Your information

Privacy policy

We collect only what we need to deliver your order and keep in touch, and we never sell it.

Last updated 25 October 2026

Freeman Firewood handles personal information in line with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020. This policy explains what we collect and why.

What we collect

  • When you order: your name, email, phone number, delivery address and what you bought.
  • When you enquire about firewood: the details you put in the form.
  • When you join the newsletter: your email address.
  • Payments: handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.

How we use it

  • to process, deliver and support your order, including returns and refunds
  • to reply to your enquiries and arrange firewood deliveries
  • to send the newsletter, if you've asked for it — every email has an unsubscribe link
  • to keep the business records we're required to by law, such as tax invoices

We don't sell, rent or trade your information, and we don't use it for advertising.

Who we share it with

Only the services that run the shop for us, and only what each needs: Stripe (card payments), Google Firebase (secure storage of orders and sign-in), Resend (order and newsletter emails), Vercel (website hosting), and the courier that delivers your parcel. Some of these store data outside New Zealand; we use providers that protect it to a standard comparable to the Privacy Act.

Cookies

The site uses only what it needs to work — keeping your cart and, for subscribers, keeping you signed in. We don't use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

Keeping it safe

Your information is stored with access limited to us, and the whole site is served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. We keep order records for as long as tax law requires, and other information only as long as we need it.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing freemanfirewood@outlook.com. If you're not happy with how we've handled your information, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
